“Why?” you may ask. In questions of parity and tolerance, words do matter. While language has its own vitality, there are bound to be growing pains when words fall out of favour. The feminine suffix is argued, pointing out limits of the unique qualities of the acting profession, raising questions with particular resonance in suggesting a subsidiary relationship to a man’s work.
