Covid-19: Maeps transformed into massive makeshift hospital

Four days is all the government needed to transform the exhibition halls of the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) into a massive makeshift hospital for Covid 19 patients. The Health Ministry and other government agencies, such as the police and army, rolled up their sleeves and worked day and night to ensure the project was completed within the stipulated time. ⁣⁣

Located in the heart of the 149-hectare agricultural park, the temporary hospital, which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, can accommodate a maximum of 604 patients. It’s fully air-conditioned and is equipped with a nurse call system, an emergency resuscitation area, a clinic, a pharmacy, and x-ray facilities. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

“So far, I'm satisfied with our achievements here,” a Health Ministry official said. “The people’s safety and wellbeing are our main agenda in managing the Covid-19 pandemic.”⁣⁣

Meanwhile, several prominent five-stars hotels throughout the country have been designated as quarantine stations for Covid-19 after the federal government gazetted a further 63 sites on April 5th.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

Among the quarantine stations are the Palace of the Golden Horses, Tanjung Rhu, Grand Millennium KL, Hilton Kuala Lumpur, and Dorsett Grand Subang. However, those who are in the facilities will not get any services including housekeeping or get to choose which room to stay from during the quarantine period.⁣
