Muhyiddin Yassin was officially sworn in at Istana Negara (known as the “National Palace”) as Malaysia's 8th prime minister on Sunday.
Dressed in a traditional black outfit, the 72-year-old signed the instruments of appointment after taking the oath as the country's new leader.
According to The New Straits Times, Muhyiddin said “I would like to express my gratitude to the king and to those who gave me moral support. I am grateful for the gift Allah has given me. I only ask that the people accept the decision made by the palace today,” he shared on Saturday after the news broke.
