Moschino Went Full-On Marie Antoinette For AW20

Beginning with the decadently designed cake-adorned invites, followed by corset dresses completed with structured petticoats, Jeremy Scott brought panache and magic to Milan, by way of reimagining the frivolity of 18th-century France. The collection was awash with French country scenes in classic pastel prints, juxtaposed with modern silhouettes including fitted trousers and streamlined vests. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Interpreting Scott’s intention to mix the 18th-century inspiration with a rock vibe, hair stylist Paul Hanlon Hair played the modern Léonard-Alexis Autié—the hairdresser behind the eccentric looks of Marie Antoinette. Models wore the French Queen's famed pouf, updated in pastel shades of pink and lilac, as well as the traditional blonde and brunette options.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Scott styled Gigi Hadid in a 3D rose adorned number and accentuated her leggy frame with satin pink corset boots and toted a candy-striped handbag. Others appeared in a series of pannier skirts wrapped in everything from his signature leather, gilded denim, rich velvet jacquard, and chinoiserie prints to long evening gloves, which added to the costume's decadence. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣‘Let them eat cake’—what a way to end the show with the famous tongue-in-cheek quote attributed to Antoinette. The finale look was a cake-topper: a hooped white confection enticing enough to grace any wedding cake. Swipe through to see more. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
