Louis Vuitton AW20: A Time Travelling Show

As Louis Vuitton runway show began, a screen was lifted to reveal a breathtaking tableau of 200 choral singers glistened in the lights alongside medieval two-point hats, pantaloons, and crinolines that spanned across the 15th century to the 1950s. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Besides the monumental backdrop, multicoloured, flouncy can-can skirts resembled something out of the Moulin Rouge, and loose silk knee-length dresses in sparkling tiger prints with little velvet headbands, came with net masks over the face shown on models. Elsewhere, models looked cribbed from robotics as they appeared in buoyant petticoats paired with fitted tops. ⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣

While Nicolas Ghesquiere seemed particularly taken with the visual codes of distance and speed—be it motocross, or space travel, the show saw the designer picking up on the graphic elements of the colour-blocked jackets to segue into a couple of motorcycle leather dresses and skirts. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
